Research in Italian studies at Leeds covers both literature and the arts in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and literature, society and culture of modern and contemporary times. <br /> Areas of excellence at national and international level are in particular Dante studies, the novel and short story in the 19th, 20th and 21st century, transmedia storytelling, and the study of regional cultures

<p paraeid="{0cbc90b4-c3d2-40d3-94c3-105fabf8940c}{16}" paraid="144836590">Research staff in Italian at Leeds work in two main areas: Medieval and Renaissance Studies and Modern and Contemporary Italy.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p paraeid="{0cbc90b4-c3d2-40d3-94c3-105fabf8940c}{26}" paraid="1259789862">Our research interests range from Dante and his medieval context to culture and finance, from family sagas to narrative arts across media, from the history of reading to metafiction in the novel, from regional and minority literatures to dialects and multilingual writing, and to women writing.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p paraeid="{0cbc90b4-c3d2-40d3-94c3-105fabf8940c}{50}" paraid="675221775">Our research is collaborative and interdisciplinary: many of our projects are carried out together with scholars in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, and beyond, in the UK and abroad.&nbsp;</p> <p paraeid="{0cbc90b4-c3d2-40d3-94c3-105fabf8940c}{60}" paraid="1138892705">We have a successful tradition of supervision of Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Researchers, funded by British and European institutions;
