Summary

The aim of this PhD is to systematically investigate the scalability of different visualization methods (scatter plots, bar charts, heat maps, etc) on ultra-high resolution displays (4k displays, through to tiled Powerwalls). Examples of previous research include Ruddle et al. (2015) and Ruddle and Hall (2019).

The individual objectives include: (a) characterising the task space of visualizations that would benefit from ultra-high resolution displays, (b) relating that task space to real-world analysis examples, and (c) designing and conducting user experiments to systematically evaluate that task space.

To be successful you will need a strong background in information visualization and/or human-computer interaction.
