Highly competitive EPSRC Industrial Doctoral Landscape Awards in collaboration with external partners are available for Session 2025/26, offering full academic fees, together with a tax-free maintenance grant and an additional annual top-up per year for 4 years. Training and support is also be provided.
<p>EPSRC Industrial Doctoral Landscape Awards are linked to specific projects. Further details, application deadlines and eligibility criteria of the projects still available in Session 2025/26 can be found in the Linked project opportunities section below.</p> <p>Awards are available for 4 years to Home fee-rated applicants. The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to 3 years (pro-rata for part-time), subject to satisfactory academic progress.and provides: </p> <ul> <li>full academic fees</li> <li>a tax-free maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate of £20,780 per year</li> <li>an additional top-up of £4,000 per annum to the maintenance grant</li> <li>full training and support</li> </ul> <h4>Other Conditions</h4> <ul> <li>Applicants must not have already been awarded or be currently studying for a doctoral degree </li> <li>Awards must be taken up by 1 October 2025</li> <li>The awards are available for new Postgraduate Researchers undertaking full-time or part-time research study leading to the degree of PhD. Students who are already registered for PhD research study are excluded from applying</li> <li>Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this Scholarship.</li> </ul> <p><em><strong>Important:</strong></em> Any costs associated with your arrival at the University of Leeds to start your PhD including flights, immigration health surcharge/medical insurance and Visa costs are <em><strong>not</strong></em> covered under this studentship. </p>

Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. The criteria for entry for some research degrees may be higher, for example, several faculties, also require a Masters degree. Applicants are advised to check with the relevant School prior to making an application. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.
The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid. Some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
