Geosolutions Leeds can offer up to three partial fee scholarships to students eligible for UK/Home fees pursuing a Masters by Research. There are two start dates available: 1 February 2026 or 1 October 2026.
<p>The value of the funding will cover tuition fees only for one year (or two years for part-time students). Please note that the scholarship will not cover any living expenses. Students eligible for UK/Home fees can apply for a Master’s loan: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/masters-loan/eligibility">https://www.gov.uk/masters-loan/eligibility</a>. </p> <p>Applicants must have submitted a complete study application for an eligible Master’s by Research degree, and their study is required to start no later than October 2026. Please refer to the <a href="https://www.leeds.ac.uk/research-applying/doc/applying-research-degrees">University of Leeds website for instructions on how to apply</a>.</p> <p>The academic application needs to include a copy of your transcript (or marks to date), a CV showing your A Level results and any relevant work experience, including internships, and a supporting statement. </p> <p>Geosolutions Leeds reserves the right not to make a funding award. The funding recipients will be expected to participate in marketing activities to support the future development and promotion of the funding and Geosolutions Leeds.</p>

Apply by 23:59 on Friday 31 October 2025 for 1 February 2026 start, or 23:59 on Sunday 31 May 2026 for October 2026 start.</p> <p>More information on how to make your academic application is available <a href="https://www.leeds.ac.uk/research-applying/doc/applying-research-degrees">here</a>. When making your academic application, please state clearly in the funding section that you are applying for is <a href="https://geosolutions.leeds.ac.uk/study/masters-by-research/scholarship/">Geosolutions Partial Fee Scholarship</a>. Please indicate in the research area that you are applying for a Geosolutions project.</p> <p>To apply for funding, applicants must submit a completed scholarship funding application form using <a href="https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=qO3qvR3IzkWGPlIypTW3y_WiuLHqeeZEmMFvcqAnY7NUNTU1NEJMTjJQSUI3UTBSSjdLR1RaWE85Ry4u">this form</a>. An automated response will confirm receipt of your funding application. No further correspondence will be sent until the internal panel meets to review the shortlisted applicants. </p> <p>If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that you meet the University's minimum English language requirements (below).</p> <p><em>As an international research-intensive university, we welcome students from all walks of life and from across the world. Applicants should hold, or should expect to achieve, an upper second-class Bachelor's degree or higher.<br /> Funding would not usually be awarded to an applicant obtaining, or predicted to obtain, less than an upper second-class Bachelor's degree unless there are significant additional factors such as extensive relevant work experience. Applicants must be Home fee rated.
The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid. Some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
