The University of Leeds are pleased to announce the availability of four fully funded Arts and Humanities Research Council Collaborative Doctoral Partnership studentships from October 2025. Two projects are available in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science and one each in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies.
<p>Collaborative Doctoral Partnership studentships are up to 48 months in duration for full-time study. This time period will include development activities and relevant work experience placements/internships. Awards may be taken up on a part-time basis if a student is eligible to undertake part-time study. The award provides:</p> <ul> <li>fees at standard Research Council rate and the University of Leeds will provide the difference between this and the international fee rate</li> <li>a maintenance grant (£20,780 in Session 2025/26 for full-time study, pro-rata for part-time study). This amount increases per annum in line with the Research Council UK rate announced on the <a href="https://www.ukri.org/apply-for-funding/studentships-and-doctoral-training/get-a-studentship-to-fund-your-doctorate/">UKRI</a> website</li> <li>a CDP enhancement of £600 per annum (pro-rata for part-time study)</li> <li>Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) of £3,000 in total</li> <li>other allowances, if relevant, please see Project Opportunity listings for further information</li> </ul> <p>The award is subject to <a href="https://www.ukri.org/manage-your-award/meeting-ukri-terms-and-conditions-for-funding/" target="_blank">UKRI terms and conditions</a> and will be renewed annually, subject to satisfactory academic progress:</p> <ul> <li>Awards must be taken up in October 2025; no deferrals are possible</li> <li>You will be based in the UK and be expected to live within a reasonable distance of Leeds</li> <li>Any expenses related to the relocation of international students (including EU) to the UK (visa, insurance, NHS fees, flights etc) would be their responsibility and is not covered by this award</li> </ul>

Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. The criteria for entry for some research degrees may be higher, for example, several faculties, also require a Masters degree. Applicants are advised to check with the relevant School prior to making an application. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.
The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid. Some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
