This Scholarship is for Graduate Study at either Masters or Doctoral level at the University of Leeds and will be for up to two years (with a possibility of a third year for doctoral studies).
<p><strong>To be eligible for a 2025 Marshall Scholarship, candidates must:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be citizens of the United States of America (at the time they apply for a scholarship);</li> <li>(By the time they take up their scholarship i.e. September 2025) hold their first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States;</li> <li>Have obtained a grade point average of not less than 3.7 on their undergraduate degree at the time of application. We do not accept rounded GPAs.</li> <li>Have graduated from their first undergraduate college or university after April 2022.</li> <li>Not have studied for, or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British University or GCSE or A Levels taken at school in the UK.</li> </ul> <p>This award provides fees and the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission will cover maintenance, return flight and other allowances.</p>

Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. The criteria for entry for some research degrees may be higher, for example, several faculties, also require a Masters degree. Applicants are advised to check with the relevant School prior to making an application. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.
The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid. Some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
