A scholarship for Japanese mid-career professionals either admitted to, or currently enrolled in a master or PhD program outside of Japan in an area of study related to development, who are pursuing a career in international development. This scholarship will extend no more than two years and includes tuition, a monthly living stipend, air fare, and medical insurance.

<h2><strong>Next Call for Applications: February 12&ndash;April 19, 2024</strong></h2> <p><strong>Core Eligibility Criteria:</strong><br /> &bull; Be a Japanese national;<br /> &bull; Hold a bachelor&rsquo;s (or equivalent) degree, earned at least 3 years prior to the application deadline date;<br /> &bull; Prior to the application deadline, have at least 3 years of recent, full-time, paid employment acquired after receiving the first bachelor&rsquo;s (or equivalent) degree;<br /> &bull; Not be an Executive Director or alternate, staff, consultant of the World Bank Group or close relative or in-law of the aforementioned at the time of the application;<br /> &bull; Not be employed by the Government of Japan or its related agencies at the time of application;<br /> &bull; Not have received any scholarship funds from the Government of Japan for graduate studies;<br /> &bull; Be currently enrolled in or for the upcoming academic year have by February 12, 2024 been unconditionally accepted (except for the condition of funding) into a master&rsquo;s or PhD program focused on a development-related area at a university outside Japan.</p>

<h2 class="heading">How to apply</h2>

<p style="margin-bottom: 11px;">The application guidelines, complete list of eligibility criteria, online application form and list of required documents are available on the <a href="">World Bank Scholarships Program website</a></p> <p>Applications must be submitted online by April 19, 2024, at 12:00 noon Washington DC time.</p> <p>Up to 15 awards will be announced by June 2024 for the upcoming academic year.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="heading heading--sm">Entry requirements</h2>

Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. The criteria for entry for some research degrees may be higher, for example, several faculties, also require a Masters degree. Applicants are advised to check with the relevant School prior to making an application. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.

<h2 class="heading heading--sm">English language requirements</h2>

The minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid. Some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
