Becoming an innovator in the School of Computer Science at the University of Leeds!<br /> <br /> For 2025/26 entry, we are offering 2 talented budding researchers the opportunity to join our thriving community of leading researchers within the School of Computer Science.<br /> <br /> These are highly competitive EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award Studentships offering the award of fees, together with a tax-free maintenance grant (currently £19,237 for academic session 2024/25) for 3.5 years. Training and support will also be provided.<br /> <br /> This opportunity is open to all applicants, with 1 place available to international applicants. All candidates will be placed into the EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award Studentship Competition and selection is based on academic merit.<br /> <br /> Please note that whilst you may be successful in securing an academic offer for any project linked to this funding opportunity or own research proposal, this does not mean that you have been successful in securing an offer of funding. <p><a href="https://eps.leeds.ac.uk/computing">School of Computer Science</a></p> <p><strong>Selection Process:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Applications will be processed after the closing date of 31 January 2025 (please ensure that all documentation to support your application is submitted by this date)</li> <li>Once processed, applications will be circulated to supervisors who will shortlist and interview</li> <li>Please note that you may be considered for an academic offer, however, you may not be considered for funding, these are 2 separate processes</li> <li>Supervisors will select their top candidates and put them forward to be considered for EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award Funding by the School Selection Panel</li> <li>The School Selection Panel will take place to determine the candidates who will be awarded funding, along with reserve candidates</li> <li>Academic and funding offers to be issued by no later than 31 March 2025</li> <li>Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by no later than 30 April 2025.</li> </ul>
<p style="margin-bottom:11px">Formal applications for research degree study should be made online through the University’s website. Please state clearly in the Planned Course of Study section that you are applying for <em><strong>EPSRC DTP Engineering & Physical Sciences</strong></em> (if you do not apply under this programme code, your application will not be considered), in the Research Area, <em><strong>the project you wish to apply for (please see below for eligible projects) or name of your own project </strong></em>and that the funding you wish to be considered for is <em><strong>EPSRC Landscape Award 2025/26: Computer Science</strong></em>.</p> <p>If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that you meet the University's minimum English language requirements (below).</p> <p><em>As an international research-intensive university, we welcome students from all walks of life and from across the world. Applicants to research degree programmes should normally have at least a first class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.
The School of Computer Science minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in writing and at 6.0 in reading, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.
