Doctoral research students in marketing will develop the ability to pursue research that advances the frontiers of the marketing discipline and solves business and marketing problems using advanced research tools and techniques. They will learn how to derive implications from their research results and communicate their findings to policy makers, practitioners, and academics. <br /> <br /> The PhD Programme supports doctoral research students and enables them to develop skills in analysis of different types of data using a range of techniques and approaches. Furthermore, doctoral research students are expected to attend and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences organised by the Marketing Department, more widely within Leeds University Business School and the Doctoral College. This helps expose doctoral research students to new research ideas and practices and create a stimulating environment for innovative thinking and impactful scholarly research.

<p><strong>The Marketing Department&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>As a world-leading centre for marketing, the department produces outstanding and impactful research. Drawing upon research and scholarship, the department seeks to provide students an exceptional educational experience, offering skills and capabilities for competing in a global market. We are among the world&rsquo;s top-ranking education units in Marketing, delivering world-class teaching that combines state of the art research and scholarship. Among Russell Group research-intensive Universities, we are 2<sup>nd</sup>&nbsp;for Marketing (Complete University Guide 2024).</p> <p>Departmental members often collaborate with scholars in world-class universities as well as with companies and public-sector bodies. The research undertaken covers a broad range of marketing topics, mainly in the areas of <a href="https://business.leeds.ac.uk/research-glosmarc">Global and Strategic Marketing</a>, Consumer Behavour, Branding and Communications and Sustainability. Research has been published in numerous world-class academic journals including <em>Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of International Busness Studies, International Journal of Research in Markting, Journal of Retailing </em>and<em> Journal of Service Research.&nbsp;</em></p> <p>Further Information about the Marketing Division can be found on our <a href="https://business.leeds.ac.uk/divisions-marketing">website.</a>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Information about the Award</strong></p> <ul> <li>We are offering 1&nbsp;full-time PhD scholarship in the Marketing Department for International candidates (Including UK), matching UKRI maintenance stipend (currently &pound;18,622 in 2023/24) and tuition fees for three and a half years, subject to satisfactory progress.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Duration of the Award</strong></p> <ul> <li>Full-time (3.5 years). The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two and a half years, subject to satisfactory progress.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Other Conditions</strong></p> <ul> <li>Applicants must not have already been awarded or be currently studying for a doctoral degree.&nbsp;</li> <li>Awards must be taken up by 1<sup>st</sup>&nbsp;February 2025</li> <li>Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this scholarship.</li> </ul>

<h2 class="heading heading--sm">Entry requirements</h2>

Applicants to this scholarship in the Marketing Department should ideally have a first-class or at least a good upper second-class undergraduate degree. Candidates should hold a British Masters degree (or equivalent degree from an overseas university) or an equivalent professional qualification with a minimum average score of 60 percent (or equivalent); and in an appropriate academic discipline. Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree are advised to contact the School or Graduate School prior to making an application.

<h2 class="heading heading--sm">English language requirements</h2>

The minimum English language entry requirement for the LUBS department is an IELTS of 7.0 overall with at least 6.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.
