Up to two scholarships are available for International or Home applicants applying for a PhD in the International Business Department within the Leeds University Business School.<br /> <br /> As a world-leading unit for international business, we produce outstanding and impactful research. Drawing upon our research and scholarship, we provide students with an exceptional educational experience and the opportunity to develop skills and capabilities to compete in, and contribute, to international academics and the global economy. Our research and teaching add continuous and sustainable value to business and society.

Up to two scholarships will be awarded.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Duration of the Award</strong></p> <ul> <li>Full-time (3.5 years). The award will be made for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further period of up to two and a half years, subject to satisfactory academic progress.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Funding</strong></p> <ul> <li>The award will cover full fees at the University of Leeds standard rate of fees.</li> <li>A maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate (&pound;17,668 in Session 2022/23).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Other Conditions</strong></p> <ul> <li>Applicants must not have already been awarded or be currently studying for a doctoral degree.</li> <li>Awards must be taken up by 1<sup>st</sup> October 2023.</li> <li>The awards are available for new Postgraduate Researchers undertaking full-time or part-time research study leading to the degree of PhD. Students who are already registered for PhD research study are excluded from applying.</li> <li>Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this Scholarship.</li> </ul>

<h2 class="heading">How to apply</h2>

<p><strong>Stage 1:</strong> First, apply for a research place of study by completing a <a href="https://business.leeds.ac.uk/research-degrees-apply/doc/apply-4">study application form</a>. You will be expected to meet our <a href="https://business.leeds.ac.uk/research-degrees-apply/doc/entry-requirements-4">eligibility criteria </a>for PhD candidates, including the English language requirements if your first language is not English. Once you have received your student ID number (a 9-digit number) move onto stage 2.</p> <p><strong>Stage 2:</strong> Apply for the Leeds University Business School International Business Department scholarship by working your way through the <a href="https://leeds.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/lubs-international-business-department-scholarship-applica">scholarship application form</a>.</p> <p>If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that you meet the <a href="https://business.leeds.ac.uk/research-degrees-apply/doc/entry-requirements-4">Faculty&#39;s minimum English language requirements </a>(below).</p> <p><em>As an international research-intensive university, we welcome students from all walks of life and from across the world. <h2 class="heading heading--sm">Entry requirements</h2>

Candidates should ideally have a first-class or at least a good upper second-class undergraduate degree. Candidates should hold a British Master's degree (or equivalent degree from an overseas university) or an equivalent professional qualification:<br /> <br /> 70 (or the equivalent at a non-UK institution) in the Master's degree, but exceptional candidates with 65 and above will be also considered; and in an appropriate academic discipline.

<h2 class="heading heading--sm">English language requirements</h2>

On all research degree programmes a pass in an approved test in English is required for applicants whose first language is not English. The approved tests and minimum required scores are detailed below. Please note that test scores are valid for 2 years.<br /> <br /> IELTS (Academic) Overall score of at least 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in each section.<br /> <br /> TOEFL iBT We require an overall test result of 100 with the following minimum scores required in each of these sections: Listening 21, Reading 21, Speaking 23, Writing 22.
