One-year fees scholarship for full-time taught Masters, Masters of Research and Masters by Research degrees in any Faculty.
<p><strong>Closing date for application forms 17:00 (UK time) Monday 3 February 2025</strong></p> <h3>Eligibility</h3> <p>These awards are only available for international fee payers (including EU applicants) wishing to study a one-year full-time taught Masters, MRes or <strong>Masters by Research</strong>. Applicants must hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to a UK First Class Honours degree, and should be considered to be the ‘best of the best’ (e.g. successful applicants are likely to be in the top 5% of their BSc/BA cohort).</p> <p>Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study.</p> <h3>Additional conditions</h3> <ul> <li>Awards must be taken up by 1 October 2025</li> <li>The awards are available to suitably qualified applicants wishing to commence full-time study (one-year full-time taught Masters, MRes or <strong>Masters by Research</strong> programmes of study) </li> <li>Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this Scholarship</li> <li>These awards are not open to individuals who have already been awarded a Doctoral degree or equivalent qualification</li> </ul> <h3>Financial information</h3> <p>If the University fee rate for your programme of study is less than £27,000, you will only receive an amount covering your full academic fees. If the University fee rate for your programme of study is more than £27,000, you will receive £27,000 as a contribution towards your academic fee – you will be responsible for paying the remainder of the fees.</p> <ul> <li><strong>Maintenance</strong> – applicants are expected to cover their own maintenance costs.</li> <li><strong>Travel/other costs</strong> – there are no additional allowances for travel or research costs.</li> </ul>

If you wish to apply for this scholarship for a taught Masters programme, please find guidance <a href="https://www.leeds.ac.uk/masters-scholarships-bursaries/doc/tetley-lupton-scholarships-2025" target="_blank">here</a>.</em></p> <p><strong>Stage 1</strong> - First of all apply for <a href="https://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/130206/applying/91/applying_for_research_degrees" target="_blank">a research place of study</a> by completing a study application form.</p> <p>In order to be considered for the scholarship you must submit all the required supporting documents for your application for study*. Any study applications that are not accompanied by the documents requested by the scholarship deadline will not be considered for the award.</p> <p>Please note that an unsuccessful application for this scholarship does not exclude you from applying for other research study opportunities or scholarships offered by the University of Leeds.</p> <p>*The supporting documents you need to provide with your study application are listed on website for the School/Faculty in which you are applying to study.</p> <p><strong>Stage 2</strong> – Once you are in receipt of your 9 digit Student Application ID, <a href="https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/leeds/centrally-funded-masters-postgraduate-scholarships-internatio-1" target="_blank">complete the online application form</a>.</p> <p>Please note that, due to the large volume of applications, the Postgraduate Scholarships Office will not enter into any correspondence regarding the progress of an application until the outcome is known.</p> <h2>How are the scholarships awarded?</h2> <p>Each School selects a shortlist of applicants who they wish to recommend for the award. The University of Leeds Scholarship Selection Panel then meets to consider the shortlists and select the successful applicants and reserves. Unsuccessful applicants can expect to be notified of the application outcome approximately 4 weeks after the application closing date. Shortlisted applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application within 10 weeks of the application closing date. The University will use the data provided in the application form for internal selection and statistical purposes and publish the names of the successful applicants within the University.</p>
Applicants must hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to a UK First Class Honours degree. Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study.
The University of Leeds minimum English language entry requirement for postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. If the School/Faculty to which you have applied has a higher English language entry requirement you must meet this higher requirement. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.<br /> <br /> Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English Language requirements by 3 February 2025.
